Terms of service

Last updated 24 October 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and Roger Brownell, who runs Scamurai. They cover scamurai.app, try.scamurai.app and the Scamurai app. By using Scamurai you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use it. How we handle your data is in our privacy policy.

1. What Scamurai is

Scamurai is practice. It shows you made-up scam calls, texts, emails and messages, modeled on real scams, so you can learn to spot the tricks before a real scammer tries them on you.

It is education, not protection. Scamurai doesn’t watch your phone, block calls, or detect real scams, and it can’t promise you’ll never be scammed. Scammers change their methods all the time.

If you think you’ve been scammed, contact your bank or card provider straight away, and report it at ReportFraud.ftc.gov if you’re in the US. The app’s Help tab lists the steps.

2. The practice scams aren't real

Every simulated call, text, email and message is marked PRACTICE SIMULATION. The people, numbers and web addresses in them are made up. When a practice scam uses the name of a real agency, bank or company, it’s to show how scammers pretend to be them. Scamurai isn’t connected with, or endorsed by, any of them.

Never type real personal or payment details into a practice screen. Scamurai never needs them.

3. Who can use it

You must be at least 13. If you’re under 18, use Scamurai with a parent’s or guardian’s permission.

4. Your account

You can practice without an account. If you create one, keep access to your email secure, since that’s how you sign in. Use only your own email address. You’re responsible for what happens under your account.

5. Using it fairly

Please don’t:

  • use anything from Scamurai to deceive, defraud or harass anyone
  • copy, scrape or republish our scenarios, drills, audio or other content, except where the app offers to share something (like a tip)
  • try to break into, overload or interfere with the service, or reach other people’s data
  • use Scamurai in a way that breaks the law

We may suspend or close an account that does these things.

6. Our content

Scamurai’s scenarios, drills, audio, artwork and software belong to Roger Brownell. You may use them for your own learning, and with your family, not for commercial use. If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them freely, without owing you anything.

7. Early access and paid plans

Scamurai is in early access and free to use while it is. Features may change, and early access may end. We plan to offer a paid plan later. We will never charge you without your clear agreement, and we’ll tell account holders before paid plans start. Their prices and terms will be shown before you buy.

8. Emails

We send sign-in emails when you ask for them. We send update emails only if you joined the waitlist or chose “Email me when new lessons are ready”, and every one has an unsubscribe link. Scamurai will never call, text or message you to ask for a sign-in code, a password or a payment.

9. No warranty

Scamurai is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we make no promises that it will always be available, error-free, or right for your situation.

10. Limits on our liability

To the extent the law allows, Roger Brownell isn’t liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for losses caused by a real scam, and our total liability to you is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or US$50. Some places don’t allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you. Nothing here limits rights you have by law that can’t be limited.

11. Ending

You can stop using Scamurai at any time, and ask us to delete your account by emailing hello@scamurai.app. We may stop offering Scamurai, or part of it. If we close the service, we’ll give account holders notice where we can.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We’ll change the date at the top, and for important changes we’ll tell account holders by email. If you keep using Scamurai after a change, you accept the new terms.

13. Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Texas, United States, unless the law where you live says otherwise.
